>> PANTHER, 165 points

This mates the Predator tank's hull; two Rhino drive systems, each with a set of the caterpillar tracks; and a Leman Russ turret with the Trident close defense system (sponsons turned sideways, mounted on each side of the turret). It may mount hunter-killer missile launchers outboard of the Trident heavy bolters.

The Panther battle tank was designed in 001.M39, when the Iron Warriors and Black Legion's Traitor Marines attacked the forge world of Poseidon, which provided materiel for the Adeptus Mechanicus' Skitarii (Tech-Guard). A Steel Confessors Cohort, assembling at Poseidon, pledged itself to the forge world's defense. During the battle, the Traitors' Daemon Engines were able to outmaneuver the Skitarii's Leman Russ tanks and attack their vulnerable flanks, and to outgun the Confessors' Predator tanks and destroy them from afar. To the loyalists' credit, their desperate effort-- mating the Poseidon pattern Leman Russ battle tank's turret to the Predator hull-- proved a match for the Daemon Engines.

After driving the Traitors from Poseidon, the Steel Confessors rushed new-built Panthers to Medusa-- Abaddon the Despoiler was testing the planet's defenses. Although the tanks arrived too late to participate in that battle, the Iron Hands acknowledged its virtues and accepted the vehicle.

A Panther is almost as heavy as a Land Raider, making it difficult to transport. Despite this limitation, the Panther is beginning to replace Predator and Vindicator tanks in the Iron Hands and their successor Chapters.

If this unit contains three (3) tanks that can all fire their Demolisher or Demolisher Prime cannons, the squadron can fire a single Linebreaker Bombardment instead of firing normally. To do so, nominate one model in the squadron as the shooter; the shooter's Demolisher cannon's type changes from Large Blast to Apocalyptic Blast, and gains the Ignores Cover special rule.

>> STORM PANTHER, 180 points

The Brazen Claws modified the Panther battle tank's design, replacing the Trident close defense system with a Whirlwind Alpha missile launcher. It is beginning to replace Whirlwind artillery tanks, which are vulnerable when operating in restricted terrain, e.g., forests and cities.

>> LAND MASTER TICONDEROGA, 270 points

This Land Raider variant has a Battle Augury Web, a vertical launching system for the Skyspear missile, and two sponson-mounted Icarus Alpha stormcannons; a hunter-killer missile may be mounted outboard of each stormcannon. A Space Marine gunner operates each sponson-mounted weapon, allowing them to engage targets independently of the vertical launch Skyspear missile.

The Ticonderoga was developed to provide long-range air defense. The Battle Augury Web combines the functions of a Land Raider Prometheus' Battle Auspex, and a Land Raider Proteus' Explorator Augury Web; its utility makes many Space Marine leaders chose the Ticonderoga as a Command Vehicle.
^
BS 4, Armor F14 S14 R14, HP 4

Furthermore, the owning player may declare that the tank's Battle Augury Web will be used in either Disruption or Relay modes, at the start of any of turns, before any Reserve rolls are made. The Web's effects last until the next player turn starts.

In DISRUPTION MODE, the enemy suffers -1 to his Reserve rolls.

In RELAY MODE, The owning player may re-roll his Reserve rolls, including successful rolls. Furthermore, enemy units using the Infiltrate special rule to deploy, cannot be placed within 24" of a Land Master Ticonderoga; this has no other effect on the deployment of enemy units.

> SAVANT INTERLOCUTION special rule

While this unit includes three (3) or more Skyspear missile launcher-armed tanks, each model's missile launcher can re-roll the dice when resolving its Savant Lock special rule.

> SKYSPEAR AUTO-TARGETING special rule

While this unit includes three (3) or more Icarus Alpha stormcannon-armed tanks, each model's stormcannons have the Ignores Cover special rule.

>> LAND MONSTER ARES, 285 pts

The Modular Ordnance Naturalized Stability TEchnology Raider or "Land Monster" is a Land Raider variant with a bow-mounted ordnance weapon in an enclosed crew compartment, and two sponson-mounted twin-linked heavy bolters. The Ares pattern mounts a Hellhammer cannon, and uses the Medusa Razorback turret to mount an autocannon and coaxial boltgun.  A modest transport capacity allows embarked Space Marines to instantly exploit any breakthrough the tank makes.

>> LAND MONSTER HERCULES, 270 points

The Hercules pattern mounts an Earthshaker Prime cannon.

A Land Raider is a precious resource; a forge world able to produce it, more so. During the 10th Black Crusade, the Iron Warriors attempted to seize such a vital planet, named "Promethean" for a hero of the Salamanders Chapter. The Steel Confessors came to the forge world's defense, but were initially unsuccessful; the Traitor Legion had artillery support from captured guns and Astra Militarum members who turned traitor. To counter this, loyalist Techmarines were authorized to modify the Land Raider.

The mighty vehicle's transport capacity was used for ammunition stowage. Named for the demigod who freed Prometheus from torture and imprisonment, the tank could destroy a Traitor Basilisk or Vindicator from afar, while it and its crew were shielded from all but a direct hit. The Steel Confessors' victory convinced the Adeptus Mechanicus to recognize the Hercules pattern.
^

>> FIREBLADE (BANEBLADE), 480 points

This Baneblade variant replaces the bow-mounted Demolisher cannon with a ramp, allowing it to serve as an assault vehicle. It has four sponson-mounted twin-linked heavy bolters and a bow-mounted twin-linked heavy bolter; lascannons are not mounted atop the sponsons, as their barrels obstruct the primary weapon when the turret traverses. It may mount vertical launch flakk missiles on its rear bustle rack.

Named after the sword Ferrus Manus forged and wielded in his final battle, and manufactured for the Steel Confessors defending Poseidon during the 10th Black Crusade.
^

Unit Type: Vehicle (Super-heavy Walker).

Wargear: Heavy bolter, thermal cannon and coaxial heavy bolter, vertical launch flakk missiles, auto-targeting system, ion shield, smoke launchers.

Heirloom of the Knightly Houses: Dragon Tongue.

Special Rules: It Will Not Die.

Options: A meltagun may replace the heavy bolter (free).

> DRAGON TONGUE (FLAMESTORM CANNON, REAPER CHAINSWORD)

This Reaper chainsword has a guide bar with a mirror surface, and a Flamestorm cannon mounted above its motor. The first Iron Redeemer learned Orks feared "magic" above all else, and commissioned a flaming weapon to intimidate the xenos; after his death, the chainsword's guide bar was recovered, the Dragon Tongue was reforged and then given to his successor.

It may be used as a RANGED WEAPON with the following profile:
^
Range Template, S 6, AP 3. Assault 1, Blind, Preferred Enemy (Orks).

It may be used as a MELEE WEAPON with the following profile:
^
Range -, S D, AP 2. Melee, Blind, Master-crafted, Preferred Enemy (Orks).

>> VERMILION VENATOR (KNIGHT CRUSADER), 470 points

This Knight armor has an Avenger Gatling cannon with a heavy flamer mounted beneath its shield, a rapid-fire battle cannon and coaxial heavy bolter.

Philippos Krast fought beside the first Iron Redeemer in the Battle of Devil's Gorge, and witnessed the Freeblade Knight's heroic sacrifice. Upon learning of the second, he asked to accompany the Steel Confessors in 996.M41, as a Freeblade Knight. History almost repeated itself in the Battle for Kalevala, but Krast shielded Edric Raven from a Tyranid Bio-Titan's attack, allowing the second Iron Redeemer to close in and behead the xeno monster. After the battle, the Iron Hands repaired the Vermilion Venator, replaced his heavy stubbers with heavy bolters, added vertical launch flakk missiles and smoke launchers.
^

May take two (2) hunter-killer missiles (+10 points each). For other options, see Stormraven entry in 'Codex: Space Marines'.

> KINEMATIC RANGE INCREASE special rule

When moving Flat Out, the flyer may fire one of the weapons listed in parentheses, if so equipped; this will increase the weapon's range by the distance the flyer moved.

>> MORRAGUL, 280 points

This Stormraven variant replaces the front Access Point with a Vanquisher Prime cannon and four heavy bolters, replaces the side Access Points with Typhoon missile launchers, and removes the dorsal air intake so the turret may traverse 360°. Modified rear grapples allow it to carry an ejector rack for Thunderhawk cluster bombs; the pilots are also trained in the arts of "skip bombing" and "toss bombing," increasing the weapon's effective range.

The Morragul, a bird-of-prey native to Medusa, is known for its black plumage and red talons. Its name means "black knowledge"-- Medusan myths describe the bird as a harbinger of death. It is the Red Talons Chapter's namesake.

May take two (2) hunter-killer missiles (+10 points each). For other options, see Stormraven entry in 'Codex: Space Marines'.

>> SPEEDHAWK, 145 points

This multirole fighter shares the Land Speeder's anti-gravitic plates, which grant the ability to hover, perform vertical takeoff and landing. It has a turret-mounted twin-linked assault cannon under the nose, a heavy bolter inboard of the engines, and a Skyhammer missile launcher at each wingtip.

Adeptus Mechanicus scholars believe the Speedhawk served as fighters and gunships in pre-Imperial human armies. When anti-gravity and missile guidance technology was lost, the Stormhawk was developed from the Speedhawk, with rear-facing thrusters in place of the absent anti-gravitic plates, and unguided rockets in place of the Skyhammer missiles; the rocket launchers were relocated to concentrate fire, compensating for an unguided munition's inaccuracy. Arkhan Land recovered the anti-gravitic plates, Skyhammer and Typhoon missile guidance systems' STC patterns in M31, but his namesake skimmer competed with the Speedhawk for limited supplies of anti-gravitic plates, forcing loyalist Chapters to prioritize Land Speeder production.

Overspecialized flyers were outmatched in the Tyrannic Wars-- the Stormhawk fighter failed to support Marine ground units, the Stormtalon gunship failed to engage Tyranid flying monstrous creatures-- this made multirole fighters more appealing to Marine leaders. Fortunately, the Adeptus Mechanicus was able to provide sufficient anti-gravitic plates; Land Speeder production no longer need to be sacrificed in favor of the Speedhawk.

> HIGH ALTITUDE FIGHTER special rule

Add 1 to this vehicle's Pursuit and Agility values when it takes part in a Dogfight.

> THRUST VECTORING special rule

This Strike-fighter is able to make Break Turns.

>> THUNDERHAWK MASTER, 700 points

This gunship combines the Medusa Stormraven's targeting augurs and dorsal turret design, with the Thunderhawk transporter airframe. Delta wings and a more efficient engine placement-- mounting the forward engines underwing, the rear engines above the wing-- allow the gunship to bear heavier weapons, equipment, and cargo.

It mounts its primary weapon under the nose, in a turret able to traverse 100° left and right; twin-linked assault cannons in two dorsal turrets; and a twin-linked heavy bolter at each wingtip. It may mount hunter-killer missiles outboard of the turret-mounted assault cannons, and replace the twin-linked heavy bolters with foward-firing Typhoon missile launchers.

Modular ASsembly TEchnology allows the Thunderhawk Master to serve multiple roles. As a bomber, it bears a "multirole pod" loaded with Thunderhawk cluster bombs. As an assault vehicle, the pod is loaded with passengers, who embark and disembark via the bomb bay doors.

As a vehicle transport, rear grapples replace the multirole pod, allowing the Thunderhawk Master to carry a Land Raider or smaller vehicle externally. Although the Thunderhawk Master can only transport one vehicle (the venerable Thunderhawk transporter can simultaneously carry two Rhino-sized vehicles), the flyer's turret-mounted primary weapon can provide covering fire for disembarking vehicles, increasing the chance of a successful deployment.

At the Iron Hands' request, the Adeptus Mechanicus developed grav chutes for Land Raiders and smaller vehicles, allowing Thunderhawk Masters to deploy transported vehicles via deep strike. Both organizations discourage the loading of vehicles during combat, which endanger a Thunderhawk transporter and the transported vehicle for minimal reward.

May replace its twin-linked assault cannons with twin-linked lascannons (free) or twin-linked plasma cannons (free). A Typhoon missile launcher may replace its twin-linked heavy bolters (free). May replace the Thunderhawk Master multirole pod with Thunderhawk Master rear grapples (free). May take three (3) loads of Thunderhawk cluster bombs (+90 points each); this prevents it from transporting passengers or vehicles until the bombs are away. May take four (4) hunter-killer missiles (+10 points each), extra armor (+5 points) and a locator beacon (+10 points).

> INDEPENDENT TURRET FIRE special rule

This vehicle is equipped with multiple turret-mounted, rapid-tracking weapons, which are capable of individual operation; the number of independent weapons is listed in parentheses. While the vehicle is eligible to fie a weapon in the Shooting phase, each independent turret-mounted weapon may fire at its own target; these weapons do not count towards the number of weapons the vehicle may fire each turn.

<> APOCALYPSE FORMATIONS additions

>> "EMPEROR'S FURY" FIREBLADE COMPANY

An adaptation of the "Emperor's Fury" super-heavy company. When Fireblade tanks are in formation, their ion shields may interlock when one has a front-facing shield, the second a left-facing shield, and the third a right-facing shield; this provides an invulnerable save against all hits on multiple facings.
^
Formation Composition: 4 Fireblade tanks, one Combat Enginseer Vehicle or Techmarine.

Formation Restrictions: None.

Special Rules: Dedicated Servant, The Ground Shakes, Interlocking Shields.

> DEDICATED SERVANT special rule

When this Formation's Combat Enginseer Vehicle or Techmarine uses a Blessing of the Omnissiah to repair a vehicle from this Formation, add 2 to the results of the roll.

> THE GROUND SHAKES special rule

Enemy units within 12" of two (2) or more vehicles from this Formation, move as if they are in Difficult Terrain.

> INTERLOCKING SHIELDS special rule

If this Formation is in the Arrowhead or Broadsword Attack Patterns (see 'Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse'), all vehicles gain an invulnerable save against all hits on the front, left, and right facings; each facing's invulnerable save is equal to that of the ion shield covering it. For this to occur, the Formation must have three (3) or more vehicles, each of which must be within 6" of the nearest vehicle.

>> "EMPEROR'S WRATH" ARTILLERY COMPANY

This adaptation of an Astra Militarum formation uses a Land Master Ticonderoga's Battle Augury Web to direct Steel Crusaders tanks' firepower.
^
Formation Composition: One Land Master Ticonderoga, 2-4 Ordnance Battery squadrons, one Combat Enginseer Vehicle or Techmarine.

Formation Restrictions: The Land Master Ticonderoga must take a target designator. Each Ordnance Battery squadron must have four (4) Land Monster Hercules tanks, or four (4) Whirlwind or Whirlwind Alpha missile launcher-armed tanks, or four (4) Thunderfire cannons.

Special Rule: Artillery Command, Target Sighted.

> ARTILLERY COMMAND special rule

During the Shooting phase, the Land Master Ticonderoga's Battle Augury Web can grant this Formation's tanks one of the following special rules: Ignores Cover, Pinning, or Split Fire. The Web's effects lasts until the phase ends.

> TARGET SIGHTED special rule

Once per turn in your Shooting phase, one target designator-equipped model can call in target coordinates. Choose an enemy unit within range (18" for infantry target designators, 36" for vehicle target designators) and in line-of-sight of that model. This Formation's models count their weapons as Twin-linked when firing at that enemy unit-- those already Twin-linked will double their rate-of-fire, e.g., an Ordnance 1, Twin-linked weapon becomes Ordnance 2, Twin-linked-- until the phase ends.

>> LAND MASTER SPEARHEAD

An adaptation of the Land Raider Spearhead, this formation uses the Land Master instead. If enemy flyers threaten to prevent the Steel Crusaders from completing their mission, the formation will accomodate Land Masters Ticonderoga, whose machine-blessed targeting augurs allow them to scour the skies overhead. If the enemy hides behind fortifications, the formation will accomodate Land Monsters Ares, whose Hellhammer cannons can erase anything the enemy uses for cover.
^
Formation Composition: 4 Land Master, Land Master Ticonderoga, and/or Land Monster Ares tanks.

Formation Restrictions: None.

Special Rules: Armoured Behemoths, Even the Mightiest Shall Fall, Killshot.

>> MEDUSA STORM WING

An adaptation of the Storm Wing, this formation doubles the number of assault vehicles to increase the chance of a successful mission, and replaces each Stormtalon with a Morragul.
^
Formation Composition: 2 Medusa Stormraven gunships, 2 Morragul gunships.

Formation Restrictions: None.

Special Rules: Orbital Power Dive (see 'Death From the Skies' expansion).

>> SKYREAPER COURT

When Justice is asked to aid the Iron Hands and their successors, he will muster a bodyguard from other Freeblade Knights bonded to the Chapters. As Justice's peerage is unknown, this formation is known not as a "Baronial Court," but as a "Skyreaper Court," for the vertical launch flakk missiles' deadly effects.
^
Formation Composition: Justice, 2-4 Imperial Knights (of any type).

Formation Restrictions: All units must take a Skyfire or Dual-Purpose Weapon.

Special Rules: Interlocking Shields, Knight Commander, Knightly Vassals, Skyreapers (see 'Codex: Imperial Knights').

>> SPEEDHAWK STRIKE WING

An adaptation of the Strike Wing, this formation replaces the Stormhawk fighter and Stormtalon gunship with the Speedhawk multirole fighter. With the Speedhawks' data lattice transmitting target information to each other, the Strike Wing annihilates enemy forces above and below.
^
Formation Composition: 4 Speedhawk multirole fighters.

Restrictions: See Twin Leaders, Linked Roles special rule below.

Special Rules: Twin Leader, Linked Roles.

> TWIN LEADERS, LINKED ROLES special rule.

This formation has two (2) Wing Leaders. If desired, the Wing can form two (2) Vigilance Attack Patterns as each Shooting phase begins, one in Skyfire mode, the other out of Skyfire mode. While both pairs of flyers are in the appropriate Attack Pattern, each pair gains the Vigilance special rules (the vehicle leading the Attack Pattern simultaneously has +1 Ballistic Skill vs. Air Targets, +1 Ballistic Skill vs. Ground Targets, and +1 to Jink saves), no matter how far apart the pairs are from each other.

The Flyer Wing can form other Attack Patterns normally.

EDITED 14NOV2016: Gave the Speedhawk the "Thrust Vectoring" special rule, allowing the Strike-fighter to make Break Turns.

16SEP2016: Revised the Land Monster Ares' profile, made the twin-linked assault cannon an option (default wargear is an autocannon and coaxial boltgun), and reduced its points value.

25AUG2016: With the update of 'Imperial Armor- Death From the Skies', I edited the Land Speeders Venom and Viper's profiles, the Speedhawk and Thunderhawk Master's profiles, to accommodate new rules listed in www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources….

15NOV2015: Revised the Thunderhawk Master gunship's profiles to include the "Independent Turret Fire" special rule from www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources….
